Architecture

 

Tibetan houses of Jiuzhaigou center on their kitchens. A Buddha altar is placed on a stand which also serves as a cabinet and for sloping family treasured items and religions instruments. The hearth separates the house in the middle into the entrance at the left which is for lady guests, the right and front ends for gentle- men guests. Tradition has it that men and women have to sit in separate rows, otherwise, it is believed disre- spectful to the host. As age is another factor to arrange seats, old people sit in the frontmost row.

 

 

 

 

 

Jiuzhaigou (nine-village valley) is named after nine Tibetan villages that sit surrounded by green mountains, centuries-old and peaceful. In cultural and regional coloring, architecture of a nationality always represents its living environment and ways of life and habits. Al an altitude of 2.500 meters, Jiuzhaigou is located in the cool temperate zone, no freezing cold in winter and nor sweating heat in summer. Here, building materials are largely logs.

    It is a Tibetan habit to have three floors: the ground floor Tor cattle (some have an underground cabin) or Tor storing potatoes and turnips: the middle Moor for living, altar and important family articles: the top floor for storing grains, fodders, and wood farm tools. As life improves in recent years, cohabitation of humans and cattle is no longer in Fashion, being replaced by two-floor buildings, with much belter sanitation facilities.

    Houses of Jiuzhaigou are nicely furnished. Before completion of the house, the owner will invite a painter to draw patterns on walls, doorframes, and beams. Paintings of the patron saint means a peaceful and safe family life. Bvety house has a turning wheel and a family/ lluddha altar. Early in the rooming, the housewife gels up, washes her face and hands, then burns joss slicks al the altar, and finally turns the scripture wheel - all to bless the family a forever auspicious life.
