Jiuzhaigou (nine-village valley) is named after nine Tibetan villages that sit surrounded by green mountains, centuries-old and peaceful. In cultural and regional coloring, architecture of a nationality always represents its living environment and ways of life and habits. Al an altitude of 2.500 meters, Jiuzhaigou is located in the cool temperate zone, no freezing cold in winter and nor sweating heat in summer. Here, building materials are largely logs.

The biggest festivals of Jiuzhaigou is the Spring Festivals. A few days before, women begin to prepare food and clothes for it. Every family start to clean their house, hang on auspicious paintings and pictures of patron saints, wishing to each other the best of a happy and propitious new year. On the first and second days of the Festival, the household activity is mainly the family-reunion dinner. On the third day, there are public activities, like the dragon and lion dances. In the 11 th day, large-scaled and lively events take place for the Spring Festival, being organized by local entertainment organs.

Tibetans of Jiuzhaigou believe in the Benbo-Sec Reli gion which was introduced to Aba Prefecture where Jiuzhaigon is located, from Tibet in the 2nd century B. C. II was integrated with primitive local wizardry into the Benbo Sec and became dominant in the 6ih century. In the 7ih century, the Tibetan Buddhism was introduced, and won in Furious conflicts against the Benbo. Although Buddhism became prevalent, the Benbo survives and develops into a special sec of Ti- etan Buddhism, due to its unique religious and culture features. Even today, there are over 60 Benbo monas- teries and temples in Aba Tibetan-Qiang Nationality Autonomous Prefecture.
